A bilateral meeting was held on June 21, 2024, at the Office of the Žilina Self-Governing Region. The meeting was attended by the Chairwoman of the ŽSK, Erika Jurinová, and the Director of the ŽSK Office, Ondrej Buzala. Together with the project partner Anders Stølan from International Development Norway, we discussed the challenges facing the Žilina Self-Governing Region in relation to climate change adaptation. Experts who also participated in the study trip to Norway presented expert presentations developed as part of the initiative. The meeting also aimed to initiate a discussion on future cooperation between the Žilina Region and the Trøndelag Region in Norway.

During the bilateral meeting, Mr. Karol Čepec, a councilor of the city of Žilina, presented the project for the restoration of the Všivák watercourse in Žilina, and experts participated in a field excursion. The project focuses on the revitalization of SNP Park in the center of Žilina, where water features are currently being designed, and the restoration of the Všivák stream, which flows beneath the adjacent square and through Bôrik Park. The discussion also covered the stabilization of the stream to prevent flooding during storms while ensuring it has water during the hot summer months.
